Andreas Lechner about why he is doing music: "Hopefully I can give people solace with my music, make them laugh or cry, make them FEEL. I see myself in my profession more as a magician than as a musician, because music has its very own magic that I always want to keep and pass on to others."

I imagine Contraland as a planet where you can be yourself without constraint. For a long time, I had a precise image of how an artist has to be and perform. "But what The Ghost and the Machine deliver on "Red Rain Tires" is tangible earthiness and a clearly defined sound. And thematically, a fierce headwind blows in the face of the lover of oversophisticated commonplace monologues in the form of folk songs here. The imagery on the record is crisp and clear, about butterflies and dust, scars and the wreckage of innocence."
"'Red Rain Tires' is like a book of fantastic short stories."
"Thoughtfully, Andreas Lechner, a native of Burgau, with his smoky voice, leads the listener in his songs through a land that is resting and at the same time fully conscious."
"Because letting go and moving freely also needs a lot of security, and you get this just through diligence, interest and attention to detail. My interest in old techniques and the entire history of music of the last century is also very great and constantly flows into my playing. The boundaries between musical genres are fluid, and good music is timeless anyway."
